What Are Experts Saying About HBOT?
Questions and Answers
What is HBOT?
Home hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves using a hyperbaric chamber at home to deliver oxygen at pressures higher than atmospheric pressure. This therapy is based on the principle that increased pressures enhances oxygen absorption in the blood and tissues, which may support healing and reduce inflammation.
What's the difference in a home chamber and one used in hospitals?
Home chambers are typically soft chambers and operate at presssures up to 1.5 ATA (atmospheric absolute) and are often used for wellness purposes. Medical HBOT chambers operate at a pressure greater than 2 ATA and are used for clinical purposes. They are usually found in medical facilities and are more expensive and complex.
What is a typical session duration and frequency?
It's always recommended to consult a health care provider for guidance and clearance before using the HBOT chamber. Session duration is typically between 60 to 90 minutes, and most studies have patients perform HBOT 5 times a week for 40-60 sessions. This is why it is so convenient to have a HBOT chamber in your home.
